Ah the clitoris, the most mysterious of sex organs...
For centuries, woman have been taught that sex is something they give to a man. We are taught that it is painful, uncomfortable and somewhat of an obligation.
Our good friend the clitoris is here to prove that point wrong. Due to taboo, there has always been a distinctive lack of research surrounding this pleasure point but recent studies have revealed some surprising stuff.
Here are 4 things you didn’t know about the clitoris…
1. To say that it’s ultra- sensitive is an understatement.
The clitoris in all its mystique is somewhat of a powerhouse. Holding around 8000 nerve endings, it is more than twice as sensitive as a penis (sorry boys!). The clit can spread amazing sensations to a further 15 000 nerve endings in the brain and pelvis. The sheer amount of sensitivity makes the clit vital for climax, with 50-75% of woman needing clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm.
2. Its only purpose is pleasure
Ladies, you might be surprised to find that the clitoris has ZERO reproductive value. It’s only job is to bring to pleasure. It literally has one job and that’s to make you feel good! Go easy on it though, it’s high sensitivity can lead to pain if over-stimulated.
3. It’s kind of the same as a penis…
Now hear me out. I know this seems crazy but the clitoris actually shares similar anatomical features to the penis. It too has a glans, a foreskin (otherwise known as the clitoral hood) and it swells when it’s turned on. Who would have thought that two VERY different things would be much more alike than first thought?
4. It gets bigger (and better) with age and use
The myth that the clitoris loses sensitivity with age is total nonsense. In fact, sensitivity . By the time a woman reaches menopause, her clit can be up to 2.5 times larger than it was during her teenage years. If you don’t use it, you may risk losing it. If the clit goes unstimulated for too long it tends to retreat into the body in a phenomenon known as clitoral atrophy. Give it some love and your clit will age as well as you will.
